This photo is not the best, through the screen of my bathroom window, but you can see this is a very large bird! It is a Pilated Woodpecker. Their territory covers 40 sq miles so we have only seen him twice in the 5 years we've lived here.

Wonderful pic, the woodpecker around the tree looks too astounding, the shrubs with the thorny bushes give it a perfect look.
